Civil Design
Civil Designers use computer-aided design (CAD) programs to draft, produce, scale and fine-tune drawings and maps for key infrastructure and construction projects. This may include roads, bridges, railways, earthworks, and commercial, industrial and residential developments.
They are responsible for staying up to date on local coding laws to ensure that designs stay within legal parameters and that proper building permits are obtained for proposed building projects. Civil engineering takes place on all levels: in the public sector from municipal through to national governments, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies.
